Replica Tag Heuer Carrera Calibre 6 Chronometer hands-on

Unveiled by the brand at Baselworld earlier this year, the Carrera Calibre 6 is somewhat of a hybrid. It’s not quite a vintage re-issue as such but the watch does take some of its cues from the original 1963-Carrera design. In short, it was a fantastic event that even the novice watch enthusiast could enjoy and understand. Presented in a 39mm steel case, the Carrera Calibre 6 is a practical, wear anyway for all occasions type watch. For the foundation we have a silver dial, complete with sunray effect, that is encircled by a blue flange with white minute-scale numbering around the outside edge of the dial.

Paired with a blue perforated calfskin strap the watch looks like it’s ready for a spin in a race car or a night out on the town with your better half. There is no doubt that this being replica watches Tag Heuer the Carrera Calibre 6 is fitted with a COSC-certified automatic movement (i.e. a chronometer) with a power reserve of 44 hours. Not bad for US$3,500.
Last week I was fortunate enough to attend an intimate event put on by replica Tag Heuer at London’s famed Conn-aught Hotel. The focus of the evening was to be the brand’s latest technical achievement, the truly incredible MikroPendulumS Tourbillon, the world’s first-ever magnetic watch. And the guest of honor? None other that designer himself, Tag Heuer’s global head of Research and Development and the man directly responsible for the creation of the MikroPendulumS Tourbillon.
What I really like though is just how much color Tag Heuer replica has managed to introduce into the design without making it look gaudy. Complementing the outer flange is a snailed blue small-seconds sub-dial (partially inset with a date window) at 6 o’clock, with a red seconds hand that matches with the red Heuer logo (how much do you love that they used the vintage logo by the way?) and the red ’60’ at the top of the dial.
